If you’re away on vacation and a power outage occurs, a standby generator can automatically switch on to ensure that your appliances and other household electronics are not interrupted.

Protects home from the damage and potential expensive biological growth issues that can occur due to extended power outages and short power outages over time.

A standby generator can give homeowners peace of mind by ensuring their loved ones are safe during times of emergency. It can also keep the house cool or warm with the HVAC system running.

Most portable generators have a threshold for the amount of energy they can provide, requiring you to either have multiple generators or limit the appliances you choose to power. A standby generator can power your whole house.

Auto-disconnect your house or building from the utility lines when power fails. Isolating you from the utility during power failure protects you from power surges, spikes, and outages.

A standby generator can deter theft and home invasion by keeping your home alarms and security cameras powered during an extended power outage.

What size generator do I need to power my whole house?

When looking at a home generator, the size to run the entire home is very much case by case. The National electric code gives a formula for calculating the service demand of the home. It is depended on square footage, HVAC equipment, wells, and any other appliances and equipment that requires electricity to function.

What Brand Generators do you use?

We are a dealer for the three big manufacturers; Cummins, Generac, and Kholer.

Which Generator Brand is the best?
Each brand has its pros and cons. When looking at a typical Naples home, we use an air-cooled unit. When looking at an air-cooled generator, what you are essentially buying, is a v-twin air-cooled engine, a rotor(revolving field), a stator(stationary field), a controller( the brains), and an enclosure. Some manufacturers use an aluminum enclosure, while others use a composite enclosure. The equipment is mechanical, mechanical things have issues from time to time.

So, knowing the units are very similar, knowing that it is a mechanical piece of equipment and may have issues regardless of brand, we recommend highly Cummins Power. Not because it is a superior machine, they are all great, but because there is a distributor center here local in Southwest Florida. Having a local distributor means that in the event your dealer is backed up with work, does not have a part, or just needs a second set of eyes on an issue, the distributor has your back and can assist the dealer and customer! Two teams looking after your equipment are better than one, regardless of the company!

Do Generators need a concrete pad?

Yes and No. Typical 20/22kw whole home generator installations involve installing a pad. Some applications we use a precast “hurricane” pad, which is essentially set in place, while others we pour a pad. Again, case by case.

How do you install a Generator?

The process is as seen in the following steps:

  1. Book Estimate: We will do a FREE onsite evaluation of your home to determine the size of the generator, location of generator, location of Automatic transfer switch, and electrical layout.
  2. We will provide you with a quote onsite unless there are special circumstances.
  3. You accept the proposal
  4. Permit process is started same-day proposal is accepted.
  5. We schedule your install. On average, we are completed within 2 weeks.
