Often times, customers will describe what they smell as an “odd hot plastic” type smell. If you smell any type of burning plastic or hot metal smell, turn off any breakers where the smell is radiating from, call 911 to have the fire department check for an electrical fire. Do not use any electrical components until the problem has been resolved.

If you have a breaker that trips repeatedly, this can be caused by an array of things, most of which can be fixed with a simple repair, but some can be dangerous. A breaker is an overcurrent device, it tripping means that it is doing its job and protecting the circuit.
